Sony Handycam DCR-DVD92E Handheld DVD-RW - working when plugged in

I’ve tried charging the battery, but it only seems to work when it is plugged in. Please see photos for condition. It might need a new battery. It seems to be working but I haven’t got a dvd to try and record. Box and instructions included.
